The mum-of-three has been in charge of the leading Victorian State League club for the past three years, but is set to join Winnaleah’s Rainbow and Riverside’s Carter at the 2018 ANL premiers.
Kent takes over the coaching reigns following Kate Upton’s call-up as Collingwood assistant coach to Rob Wright in a further shake-up at the Super Netball club.
Kent, who was formerly MacLeod when playing at Queensland Firebirds and Melbourne Kestrels/Vixens, made the 2011 Australian Diamonds squad and captained the nation at the 2012 Fast5 netball world series.
She was also poached from a Victoria Fury assistant role.
“I am looking forward to the challenge of backing up what was an extremely successful year for Tasmanian Magpies in a 2018 premiership season,” she said.
“It will be great to build on the hard work Kate Upton and others have put in, and to challenge the 2019 group to take another step in standards and performances.”
Kent travels to the state on the weekend to analyse Tasmanian players to form part of the Pies’ 2019 ANL squad.
