The Tasmanian Youth Orchestra have launched a new Ensemble Workshop Program, which will bring young musicians together with conductors and mentors.
The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Virtuosi Tasmania, interstate specialists Ben Castle, head of strings at Melbourne Grammar School, and Amberley Bremner, conductor with Melbourne Youth Orchestras, will share their knowledge with the students.
TYO General Manager, Michelle Forbes, said it was a great time for the orchestra and young Tasmanian musicians.

“We’ve worked with the community to curate something really special,” she said.
“We’re looking forward to supporting the great work that is already happening in the music education sector, and to furthering the development of many more young musicians.”
A series of workshops will be held throughout the year, culminating in an end of year group session. This final rehearsal will provide musicians with the opportunity to experience the sound and grandeur of a large ensemble.
Costs are $20 per workshop, with discounts available for those students who attend multiple events throughout the school year. Registration is required and can be completed attyo.org.au.
