The school used the theme of ‘Those we left behind’ as the basis for its submission, which included spoken word poetry, as well as dancing.
Year 9 students Azra Clark and Angel Bayliss were tasked with playing mothers of those who went to war in the spectacle.
The former said it was about capturing the emotion of those left behind.
“We wanted tell the story that wasn’t yet told about all the things that were happening at home,” she said.
“We all put a lot of work into the performance, so it was really cool to have that recognised by people outside of the school.”
Tasmanian Liberal Senator David Bushby was on hand to congratulate the students at the school on Wednesday as part of a special presentation.
He said the school’s submission illustrated its “informed understanding and respect for the service and sacrifice of our service men and women throughout a century of service”.
