About 200 art and craft stallholders will descend on the town to showcase the best of their wares.
Find them at the Deloraine Showgrounds (Venue 7), the Meander Valley Performing Arts Centre (Venue 1), and the Deloraine Bowls Club (Venue 2). The Gourmet Pantry (Venue 3), the Rotary Pavilion (Venue 4), the Deloraine Community Complex (Venue 5) are located in a cluster at the end of Alverstone Drive, while Gays Pavilion (Venue 7) can be found next to Rotary Park.
Free shuttle buses will be running between the venues throughout the weekend.
Over 40 gourmet food vendors will be scattered around the fair, with everything from cheesecake to Chinese. Cider, beer and wine will also be on offer, along with vegetarian and dairy-free options through the Good Food Float.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.tascraftfair.com.au, at the entrance gates, or at the Great Western Tiers Visitor Centre in Deloraine. All venues will be open from 9am – 5pm Friday – Sunday and 9am – 4pm Monday.
Award winners
There are big awards up for grabs as part of the fair: the $10,000 Premier’s Award for Excellence, the $2000 Best Working Exhibit Award, the $1000 Stand Presentation Award, the $1000 First Time Exhibitor Award, and the $1000 Providores Award. Winners will be announced at 6.30pm Saturday in the auditorium of the Deloraine Community Complex.
Meanwhile, the Tasmanian Young Artist Award finalists will be exhibited at Deloraine Creative Studios, 59-61 Emu Bay Rd.
International
Artisans Angkor, a Cambodian company that offers vocational training in craftsmanship in the South-East Asian nation, will be stoneworking live at the Deloraine Community Complex.
Masterclasses
Masterclasses will be running at 10.30am and 2.30pm each day at the Rotary Pavilion, with master woodworkers teaching how to woodwork using Hydrowood salvaged from the bottom of Lake Pieman.
Something different
Some would describe a perfectly trained sheepdog as a work of art, and there will be 80 of them showing off their skills at the Deloraine Showground from November 3 – 5.
The sheer amount of craft on offer at the fair can be almost overwhelming, but there’s nothing more calming than a live alpaca. Find their smiling faces at gallery Uniquely Deloraine (Gallery 4).
At Rotary Park head along to catch some fly-fishing, with casting coaching on offer from the Quamby Fly Fishers Club, alongside archery demonstrations.
For the kids
Bounce into the weekend with Taz Zorb zorb balls and slide, running from 10am – 4.30pm at Rotary Park.
The more scientifically minded will be attracted to Gays Pavilion, near Rotary Park, where there will be hands-on science demonstrations throughout the weekend.
