Launceston Chamber of Commerce executive officer Neil Grose said the awards celebrated entrepreneurship, “which is that wonderful skill of taking an idea and turning it into a business”.
“Over 100 entrants have been whittled down to the finalists in 19 different categories, spanning the many ways in which Launceston does business,” he said.
One of those finalists – Jayden Lee from Deloraine – is 16, making him the youngest ever finalist.
“Jayden will be up against many, very experienced businesses with his innovative Fast Wire Fencing Tie Offs, which has taken the farming industry by storm, along with internationally recognised fishing lure manufacturer Cranka,” Mr Grose said.
New award categories Health Entrepreneur and Retail Entrepreneur were added for 2018.
Winners will be announced at the gala event at the Grand Chancellor on Saturday night, with more than 400 people attending.
