Ms Welsh, 31, thrives on the “adrenaline of service” and “the ability to make an impact on someone’s day”, but one of her driving passions is mental health.

At the Business & Employment event in Launceston, Ms Welsh shared how mental health issues had impacted her personal and professional life.

Watching an employee become affected by an eating disorder prompted Ms Welsh to start a conversation, which led the employee to seek help.

“We aim to provide a safe, comfortable and supportive workplace where employees can come and be the best versions of themselves on that day, and if that is a little impaired then we are there to help,” she said.

Admitting the hospitality industry had a bad reputation for low payment, bullying and sexual harassment, Ms Welsh said Stillwater and Black Cow wanted to be recognised for good workplace practices – and has previously been named an Employer of Choice.
