The two-time Blues premiership player departed the TSL club mid-season this year before joining South Launceston in the NTFA’s first division.
He kicked 24 goals in six games but was dropped for the Bulldogs’ two finals after being unable to commit to the required standard.
Whiting played in the Demons’ 2010 NEFU premiership while on loan from the Blues, and will prove a more than handy inclusion for NTFA division 2 coach of the year Colin Lockhart.
The Demons, who were knocked out in straight sets at the hands of Evandale and East Coast, also expect to regain the services of Tom Grimes and 2017 premiership player Brad Rayner next season.
Lilydale, who joined the NTFA in 2011, has finished the past three roster seasons inside the top three to finish runner-up, premier, and fourth respectively.
