The day will start with Scottsdale musician Ben Wilson in the morning, before a Bavarian brass band sets the mood for festive beer-drinking, and the East Coast’s Luke Parry closes the party.
The Brewing Co will be serving up a specialty beer for the day called the Scottstoberfest Pilsner, made with German malts.
Head brewer Chris Cairns said it was a good beer for a Saturday outdoors.
“It’s a German-inspired Pilsner, an easy-drinking, session-able, Scottstoberfest beer,” he said.
Meanwhile, round three of the Tasmanian Barbecue Association’s annual competition, the King of the Kettle, will be taking place at the festival.
Participants will battle it out over the grill, with the winner going on to compete in the Tasmanian final at Rosevears on December 2.
Attendees are encouraged to get into the German spirit and dress up, with prizes for the best costumes.
It will be the third run of Scottstoberfest this year, and Mr Cairns said it was all about putting on a fun social event for the North-East.
“[Oktoberfest] is just a concept of fun, people dressing up, laughing, it’s like a beer hall where everyone can socialise - you’re not just hanging out with your own circle of friends,” he said. “It’s about having fun and being merry and drinking.
“It’s gotten bigger and bigger every year. The first year we outgrew the site, and last year we almost outgrew that site as well so we’ve made it a bit larger again.
“There’s not a lot of these events in the North-East, so it’s an opportunity for locals to come and have fun.”
There will be a bus running between the Scottsdale Recreation Ground, where the festival is being held, and Tandy’s Ale House in Launceston. There will also be a bus running between the Bunker Club in Bridport and the ground. Both buses will depart at 1.30pm and leave the grounds at 11pm.
