Tasmania Police said a single-engine plane crashed near Westwood Road at Hagley about 11.20am on Sunday.
The pilot has suffered “severe” burns as a result of the crash and was transported to the Launceston General Hospital.
The pilot was the sole occupant and it was unknown whether further injuries had been sustained.
Tasmania Fire Service sent two medium tankers, one heavy pumper, a resource listed as other and a car to the scene.
