Chieftains captain-coach Liam Reynolds chose to bat first at Beauty Point with his charges working hard in challenging conditions to finish with 9-99 off their allotted overs.
Damian Woods top scored at the top with 21, Reynolds made 20, Sameera Vishwaranga 13 and Simon Clay looked good for 18 before being run out.
Country Tigers captain Dilan Sandagirigoda collected a maiden among his 3-16 off four overs and Kieran Davey was threatening with 2-22.
In reply, Longford captain-coach Josh Adams anchored the innings with three sixes and a four in an unbeaten 42.
Jason Snare stuck around for 12, while Jackson Blair (10), Dion Blair and Sandagirigoda (both nine) made minor contributions.
Hadspen’s best bowler was Vishwaranga with 2-14 and Thanuka Dabare took 1-13.
The next round of Twenty20 fixtures will take place on Thursday, November 1, while the first round of 40-over matches will get under way next weekend.
