On Friday, the Tasmanian Electoral Commission received more than 9000 votes.

In the north, Break O’Day, Dorset, Flinders, George Town, Glamorgan Spring Bay and Northern Midlands councils are above the state’s average return rate of 40.12 per cent. However, City of Launceston, Meander Valley and West Tamar councils return rates are below the state average. 

This means about 40.37 per cent of northern councils’ votes have been returned, which is still a better result than the southern councils. The return rate in the south is about 38 per cent.

Throughout the state, Flinders Island has the highest return rate of nearly 65 per cent of its 825 voters returning their ballot. 

City of Clarence, in the state’s south, has had just 35 per cent of its votes returned, making it the lowest return rate so far. The region has 42,179 enrolled to vote.

The City of Launceston council has the highest number of enrolled voters statewide, at 47, 309.

Electoral Commissioner Andrew Hawkey encouraged those who still haven't voted to put aside some time this weekend to record their votes and post them.

If you haven't received your ballot pack, or can't find it, head to your council office to collect a replacement pack, or contact the electoral commission and they will send one out to you.

Votes must be returned by 10am on October 30.
