Held in heritage buildings including Woolmers Estate and Brickendon, festival packages for the event sold out in two days.
Festival director Allanah Dopson said she estimated half of attendees were coming from interstate.
“The first year was an unprecedented success, and we got so much interest from interstate, so this year we had more festival packages available - and they also sold out,” she said.
“What we’re saying [to ticket-buyers] is that we think this is some of the most beautiful country in Australia, so come and see chamber music in beautiful settings.
“We’ve got two world heritage buildings, and it’s that combination, I think, of beautiful music and beautiful places. There’s the rolling hills and we’ve even got the flowers out at the moment.”
Artists playing over the weekend, from October 26 – 28, include Helpmann Award-winning harpsichordist and composer Erin Helyard, virtuoso guitar brothers Slava and Leonard Grigoryan, and the Tinalley String Quartet.
Slava Grigoryan was the winner of the 2018 Best Classical Album ARIA award.
“It’s probably quite unique to have an ARIA award winner playing in the Northern Tasmanian Midlands,” festival media officer David Abbott said.
Another event, Bach in the Barns, will see listeners travel between three different historic barns for Bach performances, one on violin, one on cello, and one on harpsichord, before a wine-matched lunch in the restaurant of Josef Chromy Vineyard.
Ms Dopson, who is also the director of Handmark Gallery in Evandale, said she enjoyed coming up with creative ways to showcase both the music and the visual delights of the region.
“It has to be something a little bit different so it’s not just a concert,” she said.
“I’ve been to festivals all over Australia and I just thought that Tasmania had just as much, if not more, to offer.”
