Richardson’s Harley-Davidson in Launceston was first appointed a Tasmanian Harley Davidson dealer in 1978, only five years after Simon Hrycyszyn began the initial motorcycle repair shop beneath his father’s West Launceston home.

Expanding the business over the years Mr Hrycyszyn purchased the current site in 1975, adding a number of tin sheds built by he and his father, brothers, and friends, before expanding into its current form in 1995.

“My favourite part of the job is the buying and selling of motorcycles and the interaction with customers,” Mr Hrycyszyn said. 

Another enjoyable part is giving back to the community that has given to him over the years.

A raffle held for Give Me 5 for Kids aims to raise a $100,000 for the charity, and has already passed the $75,000 mark.

“It helps the children and their families who aren’t necessarily able to help themselves or their situation when being sick, and being able to make that time in hospital better for them is a great cause,” Mr Hrycyszyn said.

“Plus, supporting the community that has supported me over the last four decades is a great thing to do.”

The dealership has donated over $480,000 to local and national charities over the years.

The milestone will be marked with a ride to the site from Campbell Town followed by pop-up shops, demo rides, and more.
