Tasmania Police recovered about $4000 worth of property stolen from retail businesses on Sunday.
A 22-year-old woman, a 20-year-old man and two female youths, all from Hobart, were arrested.
The adults will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on November 19, and the two youths will be prosecuted under the Youth Justice Act.
Police said they received several calls about shoplifting on Saturday and were able to locate the alleged shoplifters with the help of the public.
Acting Sergeant Angela Connors said the prevention and detection of shoplifting was a key priority for Tasmania Police.
“We’re grateful for the information received from members of the public who were able to help us locate the offenders and recover the stolen property,” she said.
Anyone with further information regarding the shoplifting offences is asked to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestopperstas.com.au.
