Four orchestras will combine with violinists and vocalists to perform a wide variety of music, including Vivaldi’s Concerto Alla Rustica, Grieg’s famous Holberg Suite, and more contemporary music, such as the theme from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Violinist Eric March will perform the 1st movement of Beethoven’s Spring Sonata, and Micah Kenzie will perform an arrangement of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.
The program also includes the vocal stylings of twins Sheridan and Harrison Collis Oates, who will celebrate their completion of Year 12 by singing Somebody to Love and Falling Slowly with the orchestra.
The pair played the two leads in Launceston College’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar.
St. Cecilia Chamber Orchestra conductor Michael Stocks said the concert would be one to remember.
“The Grand Concert is a reflection of St. Cecilia’s commitment to the thriving arts scene in Launceston,” he said.
“A lot of time and hard work has gone into preparing our final concert for the year.
“Audiences are always guaranteed a memorable experience when they attend our annual Grand Concert”.
The St. Cecilia School of Music will be held from 7.30pm on Saturday, October 27.
