The woman was hit by a white Mitsubishi ute at Riverside about 7.20am on Thursday.
The woman was flown from the Launceston General Hospital to the Alfred Hospital on Thursday afternoon.
Tasmania Police Inspector Darren Hopkins said the 19-year-old driver of the ute had the sun in his eyes as he drove east.

The driver immediately turned around and attempted to help the woman, Inspector Hopkins said.
On Friday Tasmania Police appealed for witnesses who saw a white Mitsubishi ute or the pedestrian on Ecclestone Road to come forward.
