The free mobile food service parked at Regent Square for the first time on October 4, before stopping at Neighbourhood House.
It’s the first time the van has moved out of Launceston, where it has been serving the community for more than two years.
The van not only provides warm, nutritious meals, but also information and referrals to other community services and government agencies.
When the van’s new location was announced in June, St Vincent de Paul Society Tasmania president Toni Muir said “conversations with the mayor and other people in the area indicated there was a need for it there”.
The Vinnies Van operates out of George Town every Thursday.
It is parked at Regent Square from 5.30pm and the Neighbourhood House from 6pm.
