The sound of about 200 paws hitting the pavement at Ross on Saturday was enough to turn heads.

Schnauzerfest Australia hosted its first walk in Tasmania to raise funds for the breed. Walks were held all over the world for the Australian Schnauzer Rescues providing medical treatment and rehabilitating puppy farm dogs and rescue dogs.
More than 45 dogs attended the walk with their human pals and together they raised “hundreds” of dollars, Tasmanian event organiser Stella Laker said.
“We raised a generous amount. Everyone got their photo taken, the photographers were charging $5 for that so we raised a good amount there, too,” she said.
“Everyone had a ball. The walk along the river was amazing and the weather was great.”
A tombula prize was also held, and a number of people bought a bunch of tickets.
“There were enough prizes that nearly everyone went home with something,” Ms Laker said.
The dogs also wore their bandannas in solidarity.
“The schnauzer colours are orange and black, but we got an indigenous print for Australia,” she said.
Ms Laker expects the walk to be held again in 2019.
