The family-friendly event drew a strong crowd of knights and dames, with plenty of action throughout the day.
Keith Beattie was among the fencers who put their best foot forward early on at the festival.
Mr Beattie recently moved down to Tasmania with his family from Queensland, where he was a member of Prima Spada School of Fencing.
He said the Medieval Festival was a good way to showcase fencing as a sport.
“We are looking at maybe starting up a Prima Spada branch here, so it was nice to just talk about what we do,” he said.
“There was plenty of interest from people, which was great.”
Other activities at the festival included birds of prey-raptors, belly dancing, face painting, pony rides, a jumping castle, children’s games and a fireworks display.
The festival concludes on Sunday, October 14.
