The new $170,000 facility located at Trevallyn’s Paringa Archery Club was officially opened on Saturday by club members, dignitaries and guests, but any arrows sent down-range certainly weren’t the first.
“We couldn’t wait, we did that ages ago,” said club coach and treasurer Jeff Garner.
“There’s a few in the back wall.”
A boon for both the club and the community, the range will allow the many people who come through the site an extra all-weather option.
“So school groups when it rains we used to have to turn them away, now we can move them indoors,” Mr Garner said.
The build was made possible through a successful grant from the Tasmanian Community Fund, along with extensive club fundraising.

TCF funding contributed $90,000 to the project, with support also received from the Lions Club and West Tamar Council.
For Sally Darke, TCF chairperson, the appeal for them was the opportunity to help the club open its doors further and strengthen community connections.
“It’s great to see it come to fruition,” she said.
