The two had been undertaking a dispute resolution process for about a month.

Basslink on Tuesday said this had failed.

“Basslink advises that it has followed the dispute resolution procedures under the Basslink Services Agreement in good faith to try and resolve the dispute,” it said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, the dispute has not been resolved at this time.”

Hydro is attempting to recoup costs associated with the cable failure.

It is estimated the energy crisis could have cost the state up to $180 million.
