Urged on by home support, Tasmania continues to shock its bigger state rivals at the Australian under-13 hockey carnival in Hobart. None more so than the Tasmanian girls, who remain unbeaten after eight games. The hosts notched up a further two wins on Monday to boost their burgeoning tally to five with three draws. They sit one point behind the Victorians in second spot. Tasmania earned a 4-0 win against Northern Territory. Isabelle Kruminik scored as early as the third minute before Emma O’Grady had added another 20 minutes in. Second-half goals to Ellie McDonald after 34 minutes and Emily Rockefeller five minutes later had delivered the whitewash. Tasmania continued the run in its double-header with a 1-0 result over Victoria Volt. Amber Sargent put the side in front in the 17th minute. Tasmania’s boys also took home two victories, moving into fourth of 12 teams after four wins and one loss from eight appearances. Two goals in two minutes handed the home side a 2-0 win over Western Australia Lightning. Oscar Pritchard and Max Johnstone goaled in the 34th and 36th minutes.
