The cast has been rehearsing since July, with more than 100 people making the show come together.
Director Danny Gibson said there were a range of age groups working together.
“You’ve got the infamous seven von Trapp children, the captain and what that means is that you have a diversity of ages and that’s really exciting,” he said. “Some of our youngest performers are treading the Princess Theatre stage for the very first time with the older performers who are very experienced and have been performing for a number of years.”
The youngest performer just celebrated her seventh birthday, and Gibson estimated the oldest cast member would be in their 70s.
“I know the older performers get a sense of joy and excitement and a new lease of life seeing the new generation come through because they reflect on themselves as a young performer,” he said.
“What we see now that we’ve had this sitzprobe, is one group, one cast, one family coming together to breathe new life into this very classic musical.”
The show will be performed from November 2 until 17.
