A second neurologist could soon call Launceston home, with Health Minister Michael Ferguson saying he would make an announcement in the “near future”.
Launceston General Hospital lost its emergency department accreditation in March, with its lack of permanent emergency specialists cited as one factor.
“They wanted to see more specialists and we’ve made wonderful progress on that,” Mr Ferguson said.
“I’ve got more to say about [a neurologist] in the near future, but the recruitment has been very positive.”
