The position was made vacant after Gary Shipton, who led the Redlegs to three NTFA division 1 grand finals in four seasons, stepped aside at season’s end.
Philpott coached Rocherlea to three senior flags earlier in the decade, and has also been a State League assistant coach at both Launceston and Western Storm.
He will be supported by Bracknell stalwarts Josh Adams and Juan Salter.
This year’s premiership-winning reserves side will gain be led by Dion Blair along side Dylan Semmens.
Malcolm Cresswell has been appointed Bracknell’s under-18’s coach after taking over midway through last season.
Senior player Corry Goodluck will be his assistant.

The former Launceston and North Launceston player and 2003 Tamar Cats premiership coach and player mentored Tamar Youth Girls to last year’s flag.
