The group was was provided with funding from the state government’s Premier’s Discretionary Fund to purchase the new trailer, which will be used by the branch’s Veterans Support Group for it’s volunteer gardening service.
Sub-branch president Kerry McCormick said the new trailer would greatly help the support group in their efforts.
“They do the gardening for any war widows, or ex-service person that can’t do it for themselves,” he said.
Bass Liberal MP Peter Gutwein said the Veterans Support Group provides a valuable service for ex-servicemen and their families in and around the Launceston area.
“The group started offering basic gardening support to veterans in 1995 and has since evolved into an opportunity for social engagement and support for both clients and volunteers,” Mr Gutwein said.
“The Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia provides fundraising support and advocacy through its sub-branches on issues affecting Vietnam veterans.”
