Written in 1955, The Torrents is a timeless comedy-drama set in the newsroom of a regional newspaper in 1898.
The play was not professionally produced until 1996 – despite winning the Playwrights Advisory Board Prize the year it was written.
Showing at Launceston’s Annexe Theatre, the play will run both Saturday and Sunday from 7pm.
A Q&A after the Saturday night production will also unpack the intriguing history of the story and its author.
There will be further showings on October 3 and 4.
Tickets are $5 on the door, or free if you show a valid UTAS student ID card.
