The Examiner, in partnership with the Launceston Chamber of Commerce, will host the free event to introduce the potential mayors to the community.
The candidates will then go head-to-head on their thoughts about the city’s future. Eight candidates are vying for the top job at the October elections.
Current mayor Albert van Zetten and alderman Janie Finlay are the only two existing members of the council in the contest.
Business man Bob Salt and council meeting regular Basil Fitch have also thrown their hat in the ring for mayor, along with Alan Harris, Joshua Sherrin, Tegan Sweeney and Tim Walker.
The forum will be held on October 3 at the Tramsheds at Inveresk. The event will start at 6.30pm.
Voting for the local government elections closes on October 30. Postal voting packs are expected to be mailed by October 8.
