The event hosted by the Coastal Motocross Club runs from Sunday through to Saturday October 6 and will see 350 of Australia’s, New Zealand’s and Thailand’s best junior motocross riders, ranging from seven years old to 16 years old, grace the track for the 13 titles up for grabs.
Coastal Motocross Club OH&S coordinator Peter de Hann said it has been a long process to get the venue prepared for the event.
“We started about 18 months ago, there was a just a basic machinery shed here and the canteen and it was in the works for five years,” de Hann said.
“So we have done a lot of work in the lead up to the event, the canteen has been reclad, we have a brand new clubrooms, brand new wash down facility, rejigged the pit and the fence and added a deck.
“We have been flat out since Christmas and a lot of people have given up a lot of their time, I have probably had two weekends off since then and Stuart (club president Stuart Weller) has probably had one.”
Weller said the majority of the behind the scenes work was done and the only thing remaining to be done was the track.
“The biggest priority and the biggest thing left to do is track preparation, which we are doing right now,” Weller said.
“They are reshaping the track and getting it up to a tip-top standard, by using diggers, tractors and bulldozers.”
Entry to the event is free for the public.
