Five days ago Tatts announced an unregistered ticket purchased in Tasmania for Powerball draw 1166 had won the jackpot.
A search for the winner has been underway since the announcement.
The division one winner, who wished to remain anonymous, has a Tatts card but forgot to use it.
“Generally I use my Tatts card, but I bought this ticket spur of the moment,” he said.

The man said he had to check his ticket multiple times.
“I checked the ticket online. Then I checked it again,” he said.
“Then I got my wife to check it.
“And checked it again, and again, and again to make sure.
“I checked it that many times.”
The division one winning ticket was purchased from the Sorell Lotto Hub and owner Dean Silver said he was thrilled about the win.
“It was magnificent to have sold that ticket. It was great for our store and for the community,” he said.
“We’ve had so many people coming in to check their tickets, so it’s great to hear that they have come forward.”
