Brendan Craig Green pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and was on trial before Justice Robert Pearce in the Launceston Supreme Court.
Throughout the trial the jury heard conflicting evidence from Mr Green’s then-girlfriend Melissa Hill.
In Ms Hill’s statement to police she claimed her boyfriend threatened her with a shotgun in the car park of Invermay McDonald’s after she spent the night at another man’s house.
But when Ms Hill took the stand on Thursday she told the court Mr Green did not have a gun and did not threaten to kill her.
Crown Prosecutor Luke Brett probed the alleged victim about the gun and she said the accused did have a gun, but he never pointed it at her.
On Monday her previous statement to police was read out and a video interview played to the jury.
It took the jury about an hour to find Mr Green not guilty.
