Mayor Craig Perkins announced in July he would not stand for the role again after eight years at the council – most of those as mayor.
Incumbent councillors Bob Richardson and Ian Mackenzie will also not re-contest their positions.
In their place, seven new names will join those running for a spot on the council.
Two of the newcomers – Susie Bower and Wayne Johnston – will join the race for mayor with councillors Andrew Connor, Rodney Synfield, and John Temple.
Ms Bower is a fifth-generation Meander Valley resident who started the Northern Young Professionals Network and currently teaches applied business in local leadership at UTAS’ university college.
Mr Johnston, a third-generation Meander Valley farmer, is president of the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association.
Another newcomer, Michal Frydrych, will run for the deputy mayor position alongside incumbent Michael Kelly and Councillor Tanya King.
