Presented through the George Town Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Bell Bay Aluminium and South32 Temco, the awards recognise private sector excellence in the George Town municipality.
This year marked a shift in the way the awards were decided, with all but two categories determined by independent judges rather than a public vote.
In the two categories open to the public for voting – the Visitor Experience and Customer Service Awards - nominees were either mystery shopped or interviewed by a judging panel.
Businesses could nominate themselves or be nominated by a customer, client or visitor.
The judges congratulated all the nominees for their desire to make a difference to the George Town community.
George Town Chamber of Commerce president Andrew Michieletto said it was great to see the Business Excellence Awards still receiving good community participation and support from local businesses in its seventh year.
The awards ceremony was held in the Jim Mooney Gallery at the George Town Memorial Hall.

- Business Award – Low Head Penguin Tours
- Encouragement Award - Sherriff Health and Fitness and George Town RSL
- Visitor Experience Award –Low Head Penguin Tours
- Customer service (by an individual or individuals) – Fiona and Darren Carmady, Signature Café
- Entrepreneur of the year Award - Greta John, Craft My Life
