Owners from across Northern Tasmania gathered at Macquarie Street for the event, which included a range of activities and competitions.
George Town Council community development officer Rhonda O’Sign said the new park got the tick of approval from visitors.
“It was a great day,” she said.
“There was a large variety of breeds and all the dogs were very well behaved.
“We had high entries in the competitions, particularly the glamour furbabies where the dogs were dressed in the cutest of outfits.
“So far we have received excellent feedback from everyone in attendance.”
Organisations represented on the day included RSPCA, which was offering free microchip checks, as well as the North East Animal Sanctuary, Launceston Veterinary Clinic, and the Mowbray Veterinary Clinic.
The park is at the George Town Sports Complex.
