Northern Tasmanian quartet Meg Phillips, Courtney Webb, Brooke Hepburn and Sasha Maloney combined for seven wickets in a five-wicket win over ACT – the same side the Tigers toppled twice during pre-season.
The Tigers struck early through Hepburn but looked in danger when ACT reached 2-100 after 18 overs.
But Phillips (3-37) found ways to keep taking wickets and Webb bounced back from a 17-run first over to dismiss key threat Katie Mack (57) and help bowl the Meteors out for 218.
The Tigers lost their top three including star recruit Amy Satterthwaite for just 38 runs, but steadied through a 139-run stand between Corinne Hall (86) and Emma Thompson (60).
Phillips played a late cameo with 23 not out to steer the Tigers to victory with four overs to spare.
