A fire that destroyed the home of a large family at Montumana has been deemed accidental.

On Thursday crews from four Tasmania Fire Service units attended a house fire on Montumana Road, near Rocky Cape.
Tasmania Fire Service Burnie station officer Shayne Andrews said a woman and her children had arrived home to find their property full of smoke.
He said the woman called triple zero and waited outside with her children until crews arrived.
“[The woman] initially went in herself but when she saw the amount of smoke in the kitchen she got out very quickly,” Mr Andrews said.
“She said the smoke alarms were going off, so they were working which is good, but no-one had been home and it’s a bit of a rural area.”
Units from four brigades – Montumana, Wynyard, Stanley and Boat Harbour – attended the fire and investigators began examining the cause on Thursday evening.
Investigations completed on Friday found the cause of the fire had been accidental.
Mr Andrews said officers had been able to narrow down the area where the fire started to a bathroom and laundry, near a bedroom.
The estimated cost of damage to the property is about $250,000.
The property was home for six children, and their mother did not have contents insurance.
