Trained at South Windsor by Andrew Crouch, the son of Fernando Bale and Millie Grace, who registered his sixth win in just 11 starts, stepped well then mustered good speed and charged across the field from box seven heading into the first turn.
With trouble behind, Jamella Jet was off and gone as they headed down the back.
The black sprinter went on to score by 7-¾ lengths over Rockstar Kyle and Zipping Falcon in 30.47 seconds.
Owned by David Booth at Riverside and bred by Karlene Cuthbertson at Lillydale, Jamella Jet has drawn box five in Wednesday’s regional final.
Online bookmaker Bet365 has Jamella Jet third favourite at $3.20 in its early market, behind Zipping Bailey at $2.35 and Zipping Falcon at $2.80.
The winner and runner-up in Wednesday’s race will progress through to the semi-finals at Wentworth Park on Friday October 12.
Jamella Jet started his career in Tasmania going through this year’s Maiden Thousand in Hobart where he won his heat before running second in his semi and third to Hunkapapa in the final.
This week’s greyhound racing starts in Launceston on Monday night with an 11-race program.
The first event is set to jump at 7.15pm.
