A 36-year-old man has been extradited from Victoria to Tasmania charged with manslaughter.

The man was arrested on warrant by Victorian authorities on September 18 and charged in relation to the death of a seven-year-old boy.
Tasmania Police Detective Inspector Craig Joel said the man had been charged in relation to the boy’s death, which occurred at Mount Lloyd on August 22, 2015.
“Police allege the 36-year-old man cut down a tree in circumstances that were dangerous and caused the death of the 7 year old boy, who was seated in a car,” Detective Inspector Joel said.

“The young boy’s family have been advised and will be provided with necessary support.”
The man appeared in the Magistrates Court of Victoria on September 18 and appeared a second time on Thursday at the Hobart Court of Petty Sessions.
Detective Inspector Joel said the police investigation had been conducted in close liaison with the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The man will next appear in the Hobart Magistrate’s Court on October 18.
