George Town Council is hosting a Dog’z Day Out event on Sunday to coincide with the launch of its Community Dog Park.
The event will feature a variety of doggy treat stalls, paws and pose photo booths, dog training workshops, Wolf Pet photography to take individual breed photos, food and refreshment stalls, and face painting for children.
Representatives from the RSPCA will be offering free microchip checks on the day, while the North East Animal Sanctuary, Launceston Veterinary Clinic, and the Mowbray Veterinary Clinic will also be in attendance.
Other highlights include a special guest appearance Paw Patrol characters Sky and Marshall.
George Town Council community development officer Rhonda O’Sign said the day was not just for dog owners.
“We are expecting a large portion of the community to come along and take part,” she said.
“There is enough happening to entertain people without dogs as well.
“The council would like to thank to the Launceston Veterinary Clinic and George Town meats for the generous donation of prizes for the competitions.”
Registrations for the competitions, which include agility course, glam fur babies, and talent quest will be taken on the day.
George Town Council has asked that dogs at the event be on a leash at all times.
Dog’z Day Out will be held from 10.30am until 2.30pm at George Town Dog Park.
The park is at the George Town Sports Complex on Macquarie Street.
