After a trial lasting more than two weeks, a jury took just two hours to find Anthony Colin Finnegan, 36, guilty of murdering Peter Fitzgerald, 56, at Mr Fitzgerald’s Summerhill unit on December 1, 2016.
In the Supreme Court in Hobart on Tuesday, Finnegan told Justice Helen Wood he wanted to appeal his conviction but was waiting to get an appointment with the Legal Aid Commission.
Justice Wood adjourned the matter until October 15.
Finnegan was sentenced to 21 years’ jail.
