On Wednesday, September 19, the Tasmanian launch of the fundraising initiative will be held at Star Theatre, with an exclusive screening of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, a silent auction and live music.
Launceston’s Lisa Granger will also be sharing her story of being diagnosed with breast cancer days after her 30th birthday.
Event organiser Kristy Chugg said the event was about supporting a good cause and bringing people together to raise awareness.
“The idea behind it is that you put the money you would normally spend on a night out, on a night in for a good cause,” she said.
“In this case it’s a night at the movies and our cause is breast cancer, because that is something that is close to our hearts.
“The Cancer Council facilitates A Girls’ Night In events throughout October and our event is the official launch in Tasmania, which is a big honour.
“Our message is that cancer can affect anyone at anytime and hopefully through this event we can raise awareness and continue to support those who are affected.”
Ticket’s for Wednesday’s A Girls’ Night In event are available for $35 from cancertas.org.au.
