In the next stage of the South Launceston McDonald’s upgrade, the existing building – opened in 1996 – was demolished yesterday.
From the rubble will rise a new expanded carpark as part of the $5 million project.
The new building was partially opened late last month as works on the site continued.
Expanding over a block of land next door to the existing building – originally the site of VIP Sheds – the Howick Street site will include two-storeys of modern play equipment, improved ordering facilities, and a significant increase on the current store footprint.
The drive-thru will also include new waiting bays to ensure fast delivery of food and address bottleneck issues.
The Examiner will introduce a local news subscription package for online readers from September 18. Find out more here.
