The 20-year-old is the standout gymnast from Launceston PCYC, one of four Tasmanian clubs attending next week’s carnival.
More than 500 competitors will battle across three disciplines of trampoline gymnastics for assorted national titles.
It will form the final selection trial for the world championship trampoline team that travels to Russia.
Leading the charge for Tasmania will be reigning national champion Damien Axelsen.
The Kingborough Gymsports veteran, bolstered by more than a decade of experience in the sport, will compete in the senior men’s double-mini tramp event next Saturday.
The 20-year-old is hoping to impress selectors with a series of new routines to cement his position on the Australian double-mini team ahead of the world championships in November.
Among Axelsen’s plans for the Gold Coast is to bring out a triple back somersault as a dismount. He would be the first Tasmanian to do so should he make it through to the final round.
The Tasmanian squad in the senior division includes newcomers Matthew French, 18, and Jacob Smith, 21, both from Kingborough Gymsports.
French finished second in the junior men’s event at this year’s Australian Gymnastics Championships.
Another Kingborough pair Patrick Schluter, 16, and Amber French, 15, will attend the junior international events.
