Organisers said from post-event feedback last year, it was recognised that many entrants have families and would like to be able to take advantage of the school holiday timeslot and hang around after the event to spend time enjoying the iconic location of Freycinet and Coles Bay.
The new date of October 6-7 aims to provide extra tourism business for the Coles Bay community and Glamorgan Spring Bay Council area outside of the peak tourism season.
The 4adventure crew of Ben Mather, Rowena Fry, Mark and Louise Padgett are in their second year of organising the popular annual event and will use experiences learned from last year to continue to develop the event to provide a challenging and enjoyable weekend for entrants.
“The majority of our entries are just regular people who like to keep fit and enjoy the outdoors,” Mark Padgett said.

“You can challenge your friends to form a team and motivate you to train and keep fit through winter. Then enjoy a weekend with them competing together in a great Tassie location.”
He said 4adventure received an early spike in entries, particularly from Individuals due to the enticement of regular spot prize draws for registered entrants. The first prize offered in July was a weekend package at MONA thanks to naming sponsor MOO Brew.
Mather said much had been learned from last year’s event.
“The spot prize draws were a great way to entice entrants to organise themselves early. They were rewarded with accommodation packages, food hampers and training equipment all from our fantastic sponsors. It has also assisted in lessening the typical last minute run of entries that we are now receiving.”
Competitors have until Sunday, September 23, to register as an individual or 2-4 person team, with one or two-day options available.
