Acting director Dr Scott McKeown recommended Tasmanians throw out Berry Licious, Berry Obsession, Delightful Strawberries, Love Berry, Oasis, or Donnybrook Berries fresh strawberries from interstate growers.
“Regardless of the brand, we recommend you cut up all fresh strawberries from interstate growers before eating for the time being to ensure they have not been contaminated with needles and pins,” he said.
“The initial brands affected by the contamination, Berry Licious and Berry Obsession, have already been removed from sale and are no longer on the market.”
Call Tasmania Police on 131 444 if you discover physical contamination in fresh strawberries.
