The RFDS’ Look! Up in the Sky education program began in 2016.
Education program manager Tom Ryan is currently touring Tasmanian schools with the RFDS’ interactive aeromedical simulator - a life-size replica of the fuselage of a flying doctor aircraft.
The simulator was recently transformed to include a cockpit with avionics, a propellor flight simulator, and is fully equiped with stretched, oxygen, suction, and communications.
Students will be able to climb on board and experience what it’s like to both rescue a patient and land a RFDS aircraft in outback Australia.
The RFDS school tour will come to the St Helens District High School at 9am from September 19 to 21.
The tour will also go to Dunalley, Kempton, and Avoca primary schools.
