Burnie and Longford showgoers, get prepared for dogs with superhero-like abilities at this year’s events.
Brighton’s Tassie Flying Paws will be demonstrating flyball at both shows after it proved a crowd favourite at Campbell Town Show in May, club secretary Bev Thompson said.
“We started as a flyball club a few years back and it was a hobby then, but we wanted to do it seriously to get Tasmania on the [flyball] map,” she said.
Flyball is a relay race between two teams of four or six dogs.
Each dog jumps over four hurdles, retrieves a ball by triggering a flyball box pedal and then returns to the start/finish line.
“It’s great to be getting up to the North for demos,” Ms Thompson said.
“It’s loud and active and looks out of control, and people love it.”
