The club has been remembering the six-point defeat of Launceston which was followed by a victory over East Devonport in the state preliminary before a loss in the state final to New Norfolk.
Max Briggs, the youngest surviving member of the team who turns 70 at Christmas, recalled: “It was a great team to play in and started the era of winning for Scottsdale that kept going right through to the late ’80s.”
Briggs retains vivid memories of the three showpiece games.

“The grand final was a really hard fight against Launceston, the preliminary against East Devonport was a bit easier and we really got our backsides kicked in the state final on a windy day at North Hobart,” he added.
