Launceston General Hospital staff swapped scrubs for flannos on Tuesday, all in support of drought affected farmers.

The hospital’s cafeteria has become the latest organisation to get behind the national Parma for a Farmer campaign.
On Tuesday for every parma and salad meal sold, $5 was donated to Rural Aid’s Buy a Bale campaign.
Food services manager Dale Anderson said many staff had embraced the farming theme, coming to work in their best flannos, boots and Akubra hats.
“We came together and just thought it would be a good idea,” he said.
“We have seen many businesses in Launceston getting involved and we just thought ‘why not the LGH?’.
“It is pretty unusual to have an event like this at a hospital, but everyone has gotten behind it, which is great to see.”
Parma for a Farmer has been supported by numerous Tasmanian pubs, hotels, clubs, restaurants, cafes and eateries since it was launched last month.
Mr Anderson said the hospital aimed to raise $2500 for the cause, with 400 parmas to be sold at Tuesday’s lunch and dinner service.
“We also have donation tins around the hospital, so if people don’t want a parma they can still contribute to the campaign,” he said.
Allied Health director Cindy Hollings said it was an important cause the hospital was proud to support.
“Our hearts go out to all of the drought-affected farmers,” she said.
“This is something small we can do, and hopefully it will help raise some much needed money.”
