The Blues defeated Clarence 10.13 (73) to 7.4 (46) after finishing third and knocking out favourites North Hobart in the preliminary final last week.
Judah Edmunds was again the star with four majors with Ronan Filgate and Jayden Hinds kicking two each, while Declan Boyd was adjudged best on ground at North Hobart Oval.
Coach Peter Czerkiewicz said he could not be prouder of his group and that it was a significant achievement for a Northern team to win another region’s competition.
It’s great for our junior program and where we’re heading.

“We’ve had to travel a lot in the past couple of years getting smashed week in, week out and to come from that position to win is just fantastic,” Czerkiewicz said.
“It’s great for our junior program and where we’re heading.”
Launceston was up by 11 points at quarter time, 13 at the half and 15 with a term to play before booting 4.3 to 2.3 in the last.
“They ran the ball well early and caught us on the jump a bit but once we took control we were able to stay on top,” Czerkiewicz said.
“Sam Mayne, AKA Rambo, was brilliant [along with Boyd and Edmunds] and if I could have put a team effort in the paper I could have because everyone did what they had to do when their time came.”
The Blues’ development league side is so far undefeated this year and will face rival North Launceston in Saturday’s decider at UTAS Stadium from 9.45am.
Czerkiewicz said he hopes the Oli Cook-coached squad can get the job done after last year’s loss to perennial premier Clarence.
“They can be confident but they have to do what they have done all year and stick to the plan,” he said.
